What These Updates Cover

Each note is written to explain the player-facing result first, then the design or technical reason behind it. This keeps the update history useful for returning mayors, new players, and search crawlers reading the site without launching the game.

City Systems

Road access, utility coverage, zoning behavior, taxes, happiness, public services, and the rules that shape city growth.

Performance Work

Model loading, render cost, cache behavior, and mobile-friendly changes that keep the city playable on modest devices.

Player Guidance

Short explanations of how each change affects city planning, budgets, service placement, and early-game decisions.

Community Feedback

Comment threads collect bug reports, balance reactions, and requests so follow-up work can be tied to a specific version.

How To Read A BuildCity Patch Note

The update log is organized around practical questions a player would ask after returning to a saved city.

1

Check the gameplay impact

Look for changes to money flow, service coverage, roads, zoning, happiness, and city rank before changing a long-running layout.

2

Review stability notes

Performance, loading, cache, and save-state fixes are called out because they affect browser memory, network requests, and older devices.

3

Use comments for follow-up

If an update changes your city in an unexpected way, leave feedback on that version so the report includes the right context.

Version v1.0.88

  • Tourism now settles more naturally. Tourist demand stabilizes over time from city attractiveness and external access, and the tourism panel now shows attractiveness, inflow, actual visitors, and bottlenecks together.
  • Tourism Bureau progression and tourism building guidance were cleaned up. The bureau is available earlier, unlock levels for landmarks, casinos, and hotels are clearer, and tourism popups now show revenue, upkeep, net profit, and break-even details.
  • Hover tooltips were filled in across legend and sub-toggle buttons. Air pollution, ground pollution, noise, happiness, budget, deposits, power, water, sewage, services, tourism, and education view toggles now show explanatory tooltips consistently.
  • Service-building placement previews now show what will be removed. Civil buildings that would be destroyed are highlighted in pale yellow with a strong orange outline before placement is confirmed.
  • Building placement and demolition feedback were refined. Placement previews keep the original model colors and use outlines for valid or invalid states, while demolition hover uses yellow highlighting, outlines, and clears related citizen bubbles.
  • Construction scaffolding now fills larger footprints. Buildings larger than 2x2 receive multiple 2x2 scaffold blocks aligned to the model offset and true width/depth orientation, while 1x1 buildings are excluded from the grid-fill behavior.
  • Fixed city loading and missing model issues. External model/texture paths and cache versions were corrected, and a quest-data initialization error that could leave the city stuck on the loading screen was removed.
  • Fixed power legend color instability when switching between power sub-buildings. Moving between wind, solar, nuclear, and other power placement modes no longer changes unrelated legend colors.
  • Transport and control feedback were polished. Ferry/cargo ship tooltips and docking offsets, train station west offset, car horn sounds, mobile touch camera behavior, and road demolition reactions were improved.
  • Patch notes now show view counts. Views are recorded per version and displayed in both the patch note list and detail view.
