Cost and coverage
The BuildCity hospital costs ₩6,000 to build and ₩100 per hour to operate. Its coverage radius is 12 tiles, the largest of any service in the game, and it adds +120 to land value inside that radius. The build cost is the highest of the public services, but the radius lets a single hospital lift several adjacent clusters at once if the placement is correct.
The 12-tile radius is the reason hospitals can be cheaper per covered tile than a school despite the higher build cost. A school at +150 covers 10 tiles. A hospital at +120 covers 12 tiles. When the city has two adjacent dense clusters, a hospital between them can cover both at once, while a school usually only covers one cluster cleanly.
Placement for two-cluster lift
The classic hospital placement is between two residential clusters that share a main corridor. The 12-tile radius is wide enough to overlap both clusters from a single building, which doubles the tile count benefiting from the +120 bonus. A hospital placed deep inside a single cluster wastes part of its radius on land that does not benefit from the bonus.
Plan the hospital slot during the road layout phase, near the corridor that connects clusters. The road layout guide covers how to reserve service slots so the hospital ends up exactly between two clusters when both are ready for tier promotion.
Justifying the build cost
₩6,000 is twice the cost of a police station and one and a half times the cost of a school. The decision rule is simple: if the hospital covers more dense tiles than a school would, the hospital is cheaper per benefiting tile. If it would only cover one cluster the size of a school radius, the school is the better spend that round.
Common mistakes
- Building the hospital first, before utilities can support the density jump it enables.
- Placing the hospital deep inside one cluster, wasting part of the 12-tile radius on empty land.
- Stacking the hospital next to a school with overlapping circles. The land value bonus does not double in the overlap.
- Skipping the hospital because of the high build cost and missing the dual-cluster lift it enables.
What to do next
Pair the hospital with a school in different clusters so each cluster carries one bonus instead of overlapping the same circles. Read the land value guide for tier promotion mechanics and the buildings reference for the full service comparison.
